DAVID MADSEN
A third generation Californian, he grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area, one of the main settings for his latest novel, Under a Secret Sky. While researching Secret Sky, he traveled to the back gate of Area 51. Although he didn’t gain admittance, his license plate is no doubt in a secret data base, which he accepts as a badge of honor.
David Madsen is the author of Black Plume: the Suppressed Memoirs of Edgar Allan Poe, a “first-person” narrative by the master of horror, U.S.S.A, a speculative mystery set in the American-occupied Soviet Union, which was a Book of the Month Club selection and Vodoun, a thriller that blends voodoo with American politics and the Haitian revolution. To research Vodoun, he spent time in Haiti and witnessed spirit possession in the flesh.
He is the author, with Elisa Makunga, of L.A. Adventures, a unique travel guide to touring Los Angeles by rail.
He is also a produced screenwriter, with credits that include Copycat, the thriller starring Sigourney Weaver and Holly Hunter.
